Vera Mitchell is a character in Season Four of the Showtime series DEXTER.

She was the beloved older sister of Arthur Mitchell aka The Trinity Killer.

History

At age sixteen, Vera was startled by seeing Arthur in the bathroom mirror and slipped, breaking the shower door. She sliced her femoral artery on a piece of the glass door and died before the ambulance arrived. Her death sent the family into a deep depression, with Arthur's mother killing herself. Arthur's father blamed him for the deaths and abused him verbally and physically. Years later, Arthur confided in Dexter Morgan and told him that it wasn't his fault. ("Road Kill")

As The Trinity Killer, Arthur based what was believed to be the first kill in his cycle (later discovered to be the second) on Vera's death, by getting into a bathtub with a woman, and then slicing her femoral artery.

Arthur was very protective of Vera's cremated remains, and wouldn't allow anyone to touch her urn. He always left traces of her ashes at the scenes of his murders, and at the area of his attempted suicide.
