Summary[]
A party is held at this church to celebrate the confirmation of Rose Guerrero, the young daughter of Carlos Guerrero. As guests enjoy the food and drinks, Spanish music plays in the background.
The local bishop is congratulating Rose, when James Doakes shows up uninvited. He helps himself to a piece of fruit, and introduces himself to Rose the moment she’s alone. Doakes tells her that he is investigating the murder of an undercover cop and his wife, and shows her a photo. Rose is confused about why he's asking her about the matter. Carlos Guerrero, accompanied by his bodyguards, immediately confronts Doakes.
Guerrero: “Get away from my daughter. At my church? In front of my family?”
Doakes: “Ricky and Kara had a family, too.”
Guerrero: "You just opened a dangerous door."
Doakes: "No, man, you did...(raising his voice)...when you murdered a cop and an innocent lady."
Gerrero smiles reassuringly at the curious onlookers.
Rose: “What is he talking about, Daddy?” (Rose’s mother immediately whisks her way.)
Doakes: "You don't play by the rules, Guerrero. Why should I?"
Everyone falls silent, and Doakes leaves the area.
