Season 2 of Dexter: New Blood was supposed to be a continuation of 'Dexter' franchiser in general, as well as Dexter: New Blood, until it was scrapped in favor of another continuation, Dexter: Resurrection and a combined prequel/sequel series Dexter: Original Sin.
A 10-episode season was fully written by Clyde Phillips, but no actual episodes were ever produced.
Details[]
The Hollywood Reporter reported as early as 2022, that "the second season of New Blood focuses on Dexter’s son Harrison, who survived his tumultuous reintroduction with his father and flees to New York City where he must wrestle with his own violent nature and whether, like his father, he too is compelled to kill. Dexter: New Blood will explore the kinds of themes and scenarios seen in the original series but through a new lens." However, Showtime never officially confirmed the season.[1]
In early 2023 TVLine reported that any hope of a second season was officially dead at Showtime as the network opted to pour its resources and focus into a different Dexter project. [2]
It was later revealed that Season 2 was scrapped in favor of another continuation, Dexter: Resurrection. Initially, it was believed to be New Blood Season 2 due to secrecy surrounding the project. [3]
In a 2024 interview with Screen Rant Clyde Phillips revealed that a full season of ten episodes was indeed fully written, before ultimately being scrapped. He also revealed that none of that written material was retooled for Dexter: Resurrection [4]
Confirmed Plot Points[]
