Sarah Michelle Gellar (born 14 April 1977) is an American actress and producer.
She plays Tanya Martin, the CSI Chief at the Miami Metro Police Department and Dexter Morgan’s new boss in the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was born in New York City, the daughter of Rosellen (Greenfield), who taught at a nursery school, and Arthur Gellar, who worked in the garment industry. She is of Russian Jewish and Hungarian Jewish descent.
She attended the Professional Children's School in New York City; graduated with a 4.0 grade average.
Her biological father (Arthur Gellar, 60), with whom she had long-since been estranged, was found dead from unconfirmed circumstances in his Manhattan apartment.
She studied Tae Kwon Do for five years, and she's also studied kickboxing, boxing, street fighting and gymnastics.
She currently resides in Los Angeles, California, with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. They have been married since 2002, and have two children.

- Is a natural brunette. Dyed her hair blonde for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997).

- Had an allergic reaction to the Japanese water while filming The Grudge (2004). They had to put garbage bags over her legs for her shower scene in the movie due to this allergic reaction.
