Sam the Blood Guy is a character in Season Four of the Showtime series DEXTER.
He is a blood spatter analyst who works for the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
Summary[]
While attending a blood spatter conference, Sam mentions a questionable blood swipe from a case he is working. This interests Dexter Morgan and he later visits Sam’s lab, pretending to be writing a paper about blood evidence.
Sam brings out the Zoey Kruger file from eight months ago, and tells Dexter what seemingly happened. During a home invasion, Zoey’s husband and daughter were killed, while Zoey herself was shot in the arm and foot. Zoey wrestled the gun from the killer, and wounded him as he fled. A blood swipe at the scene belonged to Darius Rae, a drug dealer Zoey roughed up the day before her family was murdered.
The crime scene photos show the bodies of Zoey’s husband (shot in the stairway) and daughter (shot in her bedroom). Sam thinks it’s odd that the blood swipe was the only blood of Rae’s found anywhere at the scene. He suggests that Zoey provoked the confrontation with Rae the day before to get his blood and planted it. She created the narrative that Rae broke in for retribution, and her family became collateral damage. Before Rae was arrested, he was gunned down in a supposedly gang-related incident.
Sam: "I try not to think about it. Because if I'm right, there's a monster walking around free."
Dexter: "With a badge and a gun."
Dexter is intrigued by the case, and begins to stalk Zoey. She learns that Dexter is checking into her and threatens him.
