Ray Speltzer’s House is a location in Season Seven of the Showtime series DEXTER.
It’s a two-story Victorian house that is in foreclosure. Ray Speltzer breaks into it, sets up a maze, and chases down a victim.

Summary[]
Ray Speltzer flirts with bartender Melanie Garrett at the Sugar Mill Saloon. Assuming he wants to sleep with her, she shows up at his house after work. Once inside, Melanie begins to feel uneasy due to his sofa being covered in plastic and his odd behavior. When Speltzer tells her that he likes a challenge and she looks strong, Melanie senses danger. Suddenly, Speltzer attacks her and drags her into his self-constructed Minotaur-like maze. He blasts heavy metal music to mask Melanie’s screams and chases her through the maze. He soon corners her and beats her to death. Speltzer then rips off one of her earrings as a trophy.
Following her hunch, Debra Morgan swings by Speltzer’s house to keep an eye on him. It looks quiet and she's about to leave; however, when she takes one last look at the house, she notices flashing lights in the windows. She walks to the house and knocks on the door...then kicks it in when she hears screams. Debra heads upstairs, searching for Speltzer and his potential victim as loud music plays. She encounters Speltzer who is dressed in leather, wearing a mask with giant bull horns and a nose ring. He knocks her down, which causes her gun to slide under barbed wire out of her reach. Speltzer stands above Debra, ready to strike, when Dexter appears behind him and knocks him out with a board. Debra yells at Dexter to search for Melanie but they find her dead, having been viciously beaten. Meanwhile, Speltzer takes this time to escape.

Trivia[]
- The title of this episode (“Buck the System”) is a dual pun of sorts. The heavy metal song playing in the background, as Speltzer chases Melanie through the maze, is "F**k the System" by System of a Down. Additionally, Scott Buck is the showrunner.
