Cause
At a young age, Daniel (Oliver) drowned his younger brother. After his parents sent him away to a mental institution to be treated, he eventually caused a fire that killed 7 children inhabiting the facility. After many years, he moved to Miami, where his mother Evelyn Vogel lived. After learning that she was close to one of her former patients, (Dexter Morgan), he killed more people and left pieces of their brains for her as a message. He also simply drew pleasure from killing.
