“Let's Give the Boy a Hand”

After a severed hand is found at Petrie Beach, and police learn that it belongs to Tony Tucci, they assume he is dead. The next morning, a severed foot wearing a soccer shoe turns up in an office park, posed next to a soccer ball, along with a photo of the shoe and ball. Dexter realizes there is a connection between the location and his personal family history.

In a flashback to Dexter's childhood, he remembers that the Office Park used to be a grassy field where he played soccer, and where his father reprimanded him against bullying Simon, another kid on his team. Dexter's photo album at home has pictures of both the beach and the soccer field. The killer is copying his photos, recreating Dexter's childhood, using body parts as reminders.

While at the office park, James Doakes notices that Carlos Guerrero’s men are still following him.

Later at the lab, Dexter shows Angel Batista evidence that Tucci is likely still alive. The blood flow in the hand and foot suggest that Tucci’s heart was still pumping when they were severed, along with both having the same lividity, bruising, ashen color, and level of decomposition. Since the hand and foot were found 24-hours apart, they expect that another body part will be found the next morning. Maria LaGuerta is astonished that the killer is keeping Tucci alive to perform amputations. She immediately call Mrs. Tucci to let her know that her son may not be dead.

The next morning, Tucci’s right leg turns up at McCaffrey Pumpkin Patch.
