Summary[]
- “Dexter”
Sgt. James Doakes tosses photos of a slashed-to-death couple onto Dexter Morgan’s desk. Dexter looks them over and concludes that they didn’t die by the hands of a professional due to the messiness. Doakes orders Dexter to hurry up and scribble down a blood report for him.
Doakes: “Rival dealer came in, two scumbags slashed to hell, dealer stole the drugs. Wham, bam, done. And I don't give a shit what you say because that's what happened and that's who I'm looking for. Hey, we are looking for a motherfucking thief dealer. You got it?”
Dexter distrusts Doakes account of events and heads to the hotel to interpret the blood patterns. While there, Dexter details what happened to Officer Simon, who is guarding the crime scene.
Later in Lt. Maria LaGuerta’s office, Dexter reports his findings.
Dexter: “It had nothing to do with drugs.”
Doakes: “L.T., this is a waste of our damn time.”
LaGuerta: “I think Sergeant Doakes is right.”
Dexter: “I read the other reports, all the other forensic analysis. Everyone agrees the Cokehead Murders had nothing to do with cocaine. It was a crime of passion. The murderer came to kill the woman, not the dealer. He did him quick and got him out of the way. But he sure as hell took his sweet time slicing up that lady, and you don't do that unless you have a close, personal relationship with someone. Probably an ex-boyfriend. That's who I'd look for.”
Although dubious, LaGuerta tells Doakes to look into it and Dexter is proven right.
