Mr. Yates is a character in Season Eight of the Showtime series DEXTER.
He is the comatose father of A.J. Yates, a serial killer of women.
Summary[]
After A.J. goes into hiding, Dexter Morgan lures him by phone. He pretends to be a doctor claiming that his father's condition has worsened due to his failing heart, and he should hurry to say his goodbyes.
When A.J. arrives at the nursing home, Dexter corners him in his father's room. A.J. then pulls out his father's breathing tube in order to create a diversion. As nurses rush to aid Mr. Yates, A.J. escapes through the window. Dexter exits through the door without being seen.
It's unknown if Mr. Yates survives the incident.

- Mr. Yates' uncertain fate is the only debatable/unconfirmed death in the entire Dexter franchise.
