Med-Cart Nurse:

Med-Cart Nurse: Dispenser of Prescriptions

Med-Cart Nurse is a character in Season One of the Showtime series DEXTER.

She unwittingly provides a lead to Angel Batista that results in identifying the Ice Truck Killer.

Summary[]

Angel is still hospitalized from being stabbed by an unknown man. After a discussion during a visit by Maria LaGuerta and James Doakes, they suspect that his attacker is Rudy Cooper, Debra’s boyfriend. Rudy and Debra, though, have gone missing and Rudy’s prints are not in the criminal database.

Batista tries to watch a news report about Rudy, but the man in the next bed tasks Angel’s patience by repeating incoherent phrases. Finally, a bustling, apologetic nurse pushing a med-cart enters the room.

Nurse: “So sorry, Mr. Batista. We had to take the psych overflow from County, but this one's harmless.”
Angel: “Yeah, don't be so sure.”
Nurse: “Oh, we never take the violent ones. They have the arsonists, the rapists, the psycho killers over there. I tell you -- those people belong in prison.”
Angel: (after a moment) “Do they fingerprint psych patients at County?”
Nurse: “Yes, of course. Half of them don't know their own names. Got to I.D. them somehow." (She watches the indigent man take his medicine.) "That should take care of him. Enjoy the peace and quiet.”

Having listened to the nurse talk about dangerous psych patients, Batista takes action. He calls the I.D. Tech and asks him to run Rudy's prints against psych mental institutions. A match is found with a Tampa mental hospital and Batista rushes to the station and hands LaGuerta a file. It proves that Rudy is actually Brian Moser, who was institutionalized until age twenty-one for Anti-Social Personality Disorder. His name is run for credit cards, bank accounts, real-estate holdings, after which a raid is conducted at Laura Moser’s old house and Debra is rescued alive.
