Mechanic is a character in Season Seven of the Showtime series DEXTER.
He works at the auto repair shop where Debra Morgan’s wrecked car is located.
Summary[]
Debra has a serious car accident when she blacks out behind the wheel. Dexter wonders whether Hannah McKay poisoned her, since she had planned a similar "accident" for the late Sal Price.
Hoping to prove Hannah’s innocence, Dexter searches Debra’s beach house, only to find an open door and a blonde hair near the medicine cabinet.
Next, Dexter tracks down Debra’s car. A mechanic, wearing a Santa Claus hat, leads him over to the vehicle.
Mechanic: “Sorry for your loss.”
Dexter: “No. My sister's doing fine.”
Mechanic: “Yeah. Can't say the same thing for this poor baby. You'll have to go in through the passenger side.”
Under the front seat, Dexter finds a bottle of water and holds it up to the light. I'll see what the lab has to say about what's in this bottle, he thought. Hannah didn't poison Debra. All I want for Christmas is for that to be true.
The next morning (Christmas Day), Dexter receives a phone call from a lab technician.
Sergio: “Dexter, it's Sergio. You told me to call you when I ran that water you brought in. I know it's early.”
Dexter: “It's okay. What'd you find?”
Sergio: “That water's like 40% Alprazolam. That's an antianxiety drug. Someone must have really wanted to knock themselves out. But this time of year, who can blame 'em?”
Dexter: “Thanks.”
Sergio: “You got it.”
It was no accident. Hannah dissolved the pills into Deb's water so that she'd pass out behind the wheel. A problem in Hannah's life solved. Hannah poisoned Debra. It's not the future I had wanted with Hannah... but maybe it's what I deserve, Dexter thought.
Dexter concludes that Debra will never be safe as long as Hannah is free. He hands over Sal Price’s pen to Debra and Hannah is arrested for Sal’s murder.
