Lyle Sussman is character that appeared in Season Eight of Showtime's series DEXTER.
He was a victim of The Brain Surgeon.
Summary
Sussman was a hunter who was kidnapped by Oliver Saxon (although at this point, Saxon's identity wasn't known). He was forced to kill a man named Leonard Welks by putting a bag over his head and suffocating him. All the while, Saxon was holding a gun on Sussman and then shot him in the back of the head at close range (as revealed by the DVD he left for Evelyn Vogel in her house).
He was later found dead in his cabin by Dexter Morgan, having been impaled on a meat hook through the back of his skull. Saxon had staged the scene to make it appear as a suicide.
By the time the police arrived at the scene, Sussman's head had been blown to smithereens with a shotgun. This resulted in Brain Surgeon Case being closed and Sussman's death ruled as a suicide. The authorities were convinced that Sussman was The Brain Surgeon.
The true killer left Sussman's occipital lobes (the portion of the brain responsible for vision) for Dr. Vogel, wrapped in packages
Trivia
- Sussman is the first known victim of The Brain Surgeon that did not have his anterior insular cortex removed. Instead, he had his occipital lobes removed (the portion of the brain that's responsible for vision).
- He is the sixteenth victim to be killed in The Treatment Room.
