After trying to burn Dexter Morgan and the children alive, Lila escapes to Paris. She is next seen walking the streets of the city, heading to her apartment. When she arrives home, she begins to look through her mail. She’s startled to see a Miami postcard with James Doakes' picture attached to the back. Dexter, who has been waiting for her inside her apartment, approaches Lila from behind and injects her with a spinal epidural. (This allows Lila to remain conscious so that Dexter can speak his piece to her, while also ensuring that her death is painless.)
Dexter carries her to the sofa and lays her down upon it. Lila, unable to move, pleads for her life, saying that she killed Doakes for his sake. He asks her if she tried to kill the children for him, too. Lila is clearly very frightened, knowing that Dexter is The Bay Harbor Butcher. Dexter thanks Lila for helping him embrace his true self, and then quickly stabs her through the heart. He wraps Lila’s corpse in a plastic clothing bag. It is not known what Dexter does next, but he did mention to Lila that he had a flight to catch.
