Leones is a character in Season Two of the Showtime series DEXTER.
In former times, he "fixed problems" for James Doakes, who was in Special Operations. Leones now works as a travel agent, employed by his father-in-law.
Summary[]
Suspecting that Dexter Morgan is involved in nefarious activities, Sgt. James Doakes breaks into Dexter's apartment to look for evidence. He discovers and steals Dexter's blood-slide trophies. After he hides them in the trunk of his car, Doakes flies to Haiti to meet with Leones, an old friend. When he arrives, an old man yells out to Leones that he has a customer.
Leones: “It's a ghost from my past.”
Doakes: “I wasn't sure I'd be able to find you.”
Leones: “I'm in the phone book now. Last place you look, eh?”
Doakes: “It's good to see you, Leones.”
Leones: (laughs) “My father-in-law will be happy we have a customer with American dollars.”
Doakes: “Looks like you're in the travel business now, huh?”
Leones: “Orbitz, man -- it's killing us. And people only think of Haiti for war and poverty. But the brave ones still come. We arrange tours between the islands.”
Doakes: “No more sneaking people over the border in the middle of the night?”
Leones: “My wife would castrate me. I work only for her father now. The man is Satan on Wheels. I hope the dog will bite him. So, what can I arrange for you? Maybe the Rosewood Resort on Little Dix, huh? Only the best for my old friend.”
Doakes: “I was thinking more like the hospital in Dom Rep.”
Leones: “You are sick?”
Doakes: “No. But I need a -- a discreet lab.”
Leones: “A relaxing cruise is better. There's a shuffleboard tournament on the Jewel of the Seas -- big stakes.”
Doakes: “Leones, you were always the one to see, no questions asked, whenever we needed shit.”
Leones: “I am not a fixer anymore, and you are not in black operations. I'm a travel agent, and I like it. No one tries to kill me or torture me... except for [my father-in-law], with his vicious dog and foul breath.”
Doakes: “Listen, this isn't dangerous, man. I just need some blood slides analyzed. Leones, I need your help.”
Leones: “This is all you want -- the slides analyzed?”
Doakes: “And your most expensive tour package of the islands.”
Leones: “Give me the slides. I'll see what I can do.”
Doakes: “Confirm the arrangements first. I'll bring them over by boat.”
Leones: “Avoiding customs.”
Doakes: “Don't want to risk it with biological materials.”
Leones: “Just tell me, James. Are you in trouble?”
Doakes: “No. But someone else is gonna be.”
While Doakes is out of the country, the slides are found and seized by the FBI. This makes Doakes their prime suspect.
Maria LaGuerta flies to Haiti and learns from Leones of Doakes' plan to examine the slides. She relays the information to Special Agent Frank Lundy and it causes him to briefly doubt Doakes' guilt.
In the end, when Doakes' body is found at the cabin, along with the evidence (planted by Dexter), he is officially (and falsely) identified as The Bay Harbor Butcher. Maria, though, has great difficulty accepting this.
