Trophy room in bunker

Kurt Caldwell’s Underground Bunker is a location in the Showtime special event series Dexter: New Blood.

Location[]

100 yards north of the front door of Kurt Caldwell's secret cabin on Stern Road

Description[]

A padlocked trapdoor that is hidden under a deadwood pile opens to a ladder that leads down into what resembles a large shipping container. There are two areas - an embalming room and a trophy room. A security camera and trip wire are set up to notify Kurt of trespassers.

Summary[]

The song "All I Have To Do Is Dream" is playing while an unseen person washes Lily Kosnicki's body, drains her blood, and embalms her. Nearby are medical instruments and folded pajamas.

Kurt becomes frustrated as he tries to reconstruct Chloe's face after he shot her in the eye. He ends up punching her face, screaming, "Fucking waste!"

As Kurt is embalming someone (likely Molly Park), he calls Elric Kane. Elric assures him that he has captured Dexter, who is tied up in his backseat.

Kurt fails to shoot Harrison and Dexter at his secret cabin and runs away into the darkness to hide in the bunker.

With the assistance of Harrison's drone, he and Dexter notice suspicious woodpiles and a vent in the ground near Kurt's secret cabin. After dark, they check the site and find a hatch. Dexter picks the padlock and climbs down a ladder into the bunker, with Harrison following. A security alert is deliberately triggered by Dexter and Kurt (who is burning down Dexter's cabin) looks at his phone. He sees Harrison on the ladder and curses.

Inside the bunker,  Dexter and Harrison find an exam table, shelves of various items, and medical tools. In another area, they are stunned to find trophy cases holding at least thirty dead women, all perfectly preserved and dressed in white.

Dexter admits to Harrison that he did more than scare Wiggles; he killed him. He also says that he murdered the Trinity Killer for what he did to Harrison's mother (which isn't true). After a moment of thought, Harrison states that Kurt needs to die, too.

Dexter and Harrison drive to Kurt's lodge and capture him as he's preparing to leave town. They take him back to the bunker where he's wrapped in plastic on the exam table and placed next to his victims. Harrison asks Dexter how many people he's killed and Dexter says that it’s "in the hundreds." Harrison seems proud, and remarks that Dexter has saved thousands of lives.

When Kurt wakes up, he struggles to free himself, more angry than scared. Kurt soon admits his murders, claiming that he "saved" the women because they were just runaways who would have gone through trauma. Kurt tells Harrison that he tried to kill him because Dexter killed his son, Matt. Dexter stabs Kurt in the chest while Harrison watches. As Dexter is dismembering Kurt's body, the blood causes Harrison to have a flashback of his mother's murder and he goes outside to get some air.

Afterward, they dispose of Kurt's remains in the local incinerator. Dexter tells Harrison that it will look like Kurt went on the run since he had packed his bags and emptied his safe.

Dexter is arrested for Matt Caldwell's murder and accused by Angela Bishop of being the Bay Harbor Butcher. During interrogation, Dexter tells her to drive out to Kurt's cabin where she will see what "real evil" looks like. Angela leaves without telling Sergeant Logan where she is going. Alone in the dark, Angela finds the hatch to the bunker and climbs inside. She's shocked when she discovers the trophy room with preserved women, including Molly Park. She walks past the display cases, naming the ones from the posters in her office. She tears up and calls Logan but doesn't get a response. She then calls Teddy Reed and orders him to call the state troopers, the FBI, and all of the backup he can get. She asks Teddy if he’s heard from Logan in the past hour and he has not. Angela rushes back to the station where she finds Logan, dead on the floor, and Dexter gone.

The bunker becomes a crime scene off camera.
