John Charles McDonnell Jr. was born on the South side of Chicago and graduated from Brother Rice H.S. in 1979. He attended Northern Illinois University.
He originally did stand-up as John McDonnell. Once he joined the Screen Actors Guild, he was required to use his middle initial. He lives in Texas. [1]
