Iron Lake Police Department

Iron Lake Police Department is a location in the Showtime special event series Dexter: New Blood.

It’s the local law enforcement in Iron Lake, N.Y.

Summary[]

During lunch break, Dexter walks over to the police station and chats with the officers there. They talk about why Matt Caldwell was flagged in the background check and Esther mentions a boating crash in which five people died. Sergeant Logan defends Matt until he looks him up in the system and sees "more than a few spots" on his record. Dexter tries to change the subject by mentioning a needed street sign. After meeting with a state trooper, Angela puts up another missing poster on the wall. "Same as always: no body, no pattern, no case."

Esther reveals that they have footage of Matt Caldwell shooting the white deer. Dexter is shocked to hear about the cameras, but relaxes when Sam reveals that they are thermal cameras. Dexter identifies the gun he sold Matt from the footage. Dexter is then shown additional footage from the next quadrant over, from a few seconds earlier. There is another unknown man (Dexter) heading for the same spot as Matt. Due to blind spots, nothing else was caught on camera. Kurt screams at Angela for not realizing earlier that this is a criminal investigation.

Kurt goes into the police station and everyone hugs him in glee, relieved his son is alive. Kurt gives a statement about FaceTiming with Matt, claiming he saw no injuries on him and that he is in New York City. Angela tells Kurt that Matt owes her a call. She says she’s tried his cell a number of times and it went straight to voicemail. Kurt tells Angela that Matt had wanted money and looked uninjured but seemed high and on another bender. Kurt promises to pay the fine for killing the deer. Angela retorts that she needs to close the missing person case regardless.

Angela notices Molly Park through her office window at the police station talking with Sergeant Logan. When she goes to talk to them, Molly blurts  out that she slept with Logan and then barrages Angela with questions about the case - claiming it’s odd that no one can make contact with Matt. She claims to have called him several times herself to no avail. Angela tells her to leave or be arrested for interfering in an investigation. Molly tells Logan to call her when he’s off. Angela orders Logan to run Matt’s credit cards again.

Curious, Dexter goes to the police station and sees photos of Ethan's stab wounds. Audrey overhears that she was on Ethan’s kill list and she takes a photo of his journals when her mom isn’t looking. Dexter has some information about the knives used and purchased by Ethan at Fred’s. Dexter could tell by the photos that Ethan’s wound was not made by a hunting knife. Harrison must have brought his own weapon to school.

Molly Park walks into Angela’s office with a peace offering - alcohol and photos of Faith Darwas taken three days earlier in Tulsa. Molly explains that she asked her podcast followers for help after seeing Angela’s missing women board. She explains that Faith goes by Lauren now and is just a runaway. Molly tells her that she got no hits on the other women she posted and asks Angela for her theory. Molly suggests an alliance between her and Angela. Angela agrees to take the help. Molly sets down a recorder and asks for every bit of information she has about the missing women.

Sergeant Logan walks into Angela’s office to let her know that Matt’s credit card statements show he was at a hotel in New York City the last three nights. Molly Park, who is sitting on a couch in Angela’s office, says with frustration, “No dead guy, no podcast”.

Angela is fuming that Matt is eating five star room service while the town has been freezing looking for him. Molly suggests they go to the city to confront him. Logan accuses her of only wanting to do that to save her podcast, but Angela agrees that it’s good timing because there is a Missing Persons conference that she wants to attend. Molly informs Logan she met someone else and tells Angela she can fund the trip. Logan is left behind to watch the station.

Logan interrogates Miles and tells him eighteen people have died from ODs in town, presumably from pills that Miles sold. He threatens Miles for information and Miles tells him about a person named Jasper Hodge who makes the pills.

Angela sees something on her computer and is shocked. She prints out the obituary for Dexter Morgan.

Angela storms into the station and Jim (Dexter) follows. Logan and Esther, the dispatcher, give him advice for dealing with his angry girlfriend, unaware what she’s mad about. Angela is furious that he’s been lying to her. Dexter explains that his wife, Rita, was murdered, and his sister Debra was also killed. It was all “too much” so he wanted to start over. He tells her he drove his boat into a hurricane intending to kill himself but that he survived and took it as a sign that he could start over. He tells her his life with Angela and Harrison is what he’s always needed. Angela tells him relationships are based on trust and questions if she can ever trust him again. Dexter leaves and Molly walks in.

Angela brainstorms with Logan about what could’ve happened to Matt Caldwell and why Kurt was lying. Logan defends Kurt, claiming he’s known him his whole life and he’s a good person. Angela theorizes that Kurt doesn’t want them to find something in the Clarke Caves, where they were going to search for Matt’s body the day after he told the police that Matt was alive. Angela calls in Teddy to join her at the caves tomorrow.

Molly rushes into Angela’s office, thrilled that they caught Kurt, and asks why Angela didn’t text her. Angela tells Molly they’re done because Molly withheld the information about her visit to Kurt's cabin.

At the police station, Kurt makes a recorded statement about his father. He claims he witnessed his father knock around “working women”. He claims that his father was the one who picked up Iris in his truck. In a flashback, it's actually a young Kurt who picks Iris up. Iris bites Kurt's hand when he won’t let her out of his car, insisting he should bring her home. He shoots Iris in the back as she runs away. The DA insists they don’t have enough evidence to keep Kurt and they have to let him go. Logan talks to Kurt as he leaves and says he could’ve cleared Kurt if he came forward with this information years ago. Kurt tells Angela “sorry for your loss” and walks away.

Logan goes into Angela’s office and talks to her about Dexter. He mentions that Dexter beat up the drug dealer who gave the drugs that made Harrison almost overdose. She is surprised no one told her about it.

Angela tells Logan to close out Iris’s files and asks to be brought up to speed on the opioid case. She starts to get suspicions about what happened with Miles and Jasper.

At the police station, they take his fingerprints and photos as Dexter Morgan. Harrison enters the station and asks what’s going on but they only tell him to take a seat. Angela video interviews Dexter about the day Matt went missing. She shows him the evidence that she has, including the thermal camera footage, the note from Kurt, and the screws from Matt’s body. She tells Dexter her theory about what happened that day. Dexter responds with his own theory - that Kurt framed him and Kurt really murdered Matt. Dexter reminds her that Kurt lied about being in New York and then suspiciously stripped his cabin. When Dexter mentions Iris, Angela loses her temper.

Angela and Logan talk privately and he tells her that Dexter's story is plausible. She tells Logan that he doesn't know the full story but she can’t tell him until she’s sure. She orders Teddy to bring Kurt in. Harrison is allowed to be alone with his father for five minutes and they hug. Dexter assures Harrison that he has been in tougher spots and he will get out of this one. Outside the station, Angela warns Audrey that "Jim" is dangerous but can't explain why until tomorrow.

Angela interrogates Dexter again. She accuses him of being a murderer and mentions the ketamine. She tells him that Miles O'Flynn testified that Dexter poked him in the neck with a needle. She then shows him an autopsy photo of Jasper Hodge and points out an injection mark on his neck, adding that there was ketamine in his system. Next, she shows him the dismembered body of someone murdered by the Bay Harbor Butcher, who also had an injection mark and the same drug in his system. Angela reveals to Dexter that Angel Batista is coming in from Miami and they will extradite him to Florida, where they have the death penalty.

Dexter tells her to turn off the camera so that he can talk. He refuses to admit that he's the Bay Harbor Butcher but claims that Kurt Caldwell has been an active serial killer for 25 years and he can prove it. He tells her to go to Kurt's cabin and how to find the hatch to the bunker. Angela swears, stands up, and orders Logan to put Dexter back in his cell. Logan asks why she turned off the camera, but Angela leaves without an explanation.

Dexter calls out to Logan, requesting some water. When he brings it, Logan lets his guard down for a split second. Dexter reaches through the bars of his cell and bashes Logan's face violently against the metal bars before spinning him around and putting him in a choke hold. Logan struggles but is unable to break free of his grasp. Dexter assures him that he doesn’t want to hurt him and that all he wants are the keys to the cell. Logan touches the keys on his belt and then decides to unstrap his pistol instead. He fires the gun backward through the bars, missing Dexter, who snaps his neck with one swift movement. Dexter calls Harrison from Logan’s phone and tells him to grab all of his stuff and to meet him at the spot where the white deer was killed. He leaves the phone on Esther’s desk and takes off in the police car.

Harrison drives through town. He watches as Logan's body is carried out from the police station.
