Dexter follows Jeremy in Flamingo Park

Flamingo Park is a location in Season One of the Showtime series DEXTER.

It’s a public park in Miami where Jeremy Downs is arrested for the murder of Jason Riech.

Summary[]

The body of yearbook editor, Jason Riech, is found near a mall. While Dexter is demonstrating castoff blood patterns, he realizes that the wounds were caused by the same knife technique as those on Jeremy Downs’ first victim. Dexter decides he made a mistake in not killing Jeremy when he had the chance.

Dexter goes looking for Jeremy at the Halfway House where he lives, but he’s not there. He learns from another boy learns that Jeremy is working Flamingo Park as a gay hustler to earn “fistfuls of cash.”

Wearing dark sunglasses and a hoodie, Dexter jogs through Flamingo Park until he sees Jeremy. As Dexter begins to follow him, Jeremy turns around and asks Dexter if he wants company. Dexter orders him to keep walking and looking ahead. Jeremy suggests that they go into the mangroves, but Dexter says it's too public and remarks that his car is in the parking lot. Jeremy turns to ask if the windows are tinted, and Dexter again orders him to keep looking ahead.

Suddenly, Jeremy stops walking and Dexter asks what's wrong. As Jeremy looks around, he notices cops approaching, swears and bolts. Just then, Sergeant Doakes runs past Dexter, shoving him to the ground as he yells to get out of the way.

Immediately, Dexter hides behind a tree and watches Doakes and detectives arrest and handcuff Jeremy. Dexter sighs in relief as no one seems to have recognized him.

Back at the station, Doakes congratulates Dexter on being right that Jeremy had killed before, and suspiciously asks why his instincts are always dead-on when it comes to killers. Dexter blows it off, smiles and walks away, as Doakes warns, “I’m watching you.”
