Ethan Williams is a character in the Showtime special event series Dexter: New Blood.

He's a bullied student that admires Harrison.

Summary[]

"Smoke Signals"

At school, Zach and his friends laugh as they show Harrison a text message chain with Ethan where they pretend to be an interested hot girl. Harrison tells them "that’s fucked up."

Instead of joining the cool crowd at lunch, Harrison sits down with Ethan and informs him that he’s being catfished by Zach and his online girlfriend isn’t real. Ethan asks, "Who the fuck are you?" and "Why are you telling me this?" Harrison tells Ethan his name and says, "Because guys like Zach shouldn't always be top of the food chain."

With Harrison's help, Ethan gets revenge on Zach by sending a photoshopped text of him having sex with a goat. Zach is infuriated when his friends laugh and Ethan holds up both his middle fingers. He rushes toward Ethan but Harrison intervenes by grabbing Zach's neck and warning him to back off. He then throws a shocked Zach against a locker as Ethan watches with admiration. Audrey steps in to give Harrison a ride home. As he's leaving, Harrison tells the guys that he made the wrestling team and will see them on the mat.

Harrison is at home looking at pictures of Audrey on his phone when Ethan calls. Ethan thanks him for what he did at school and says he always fantasized about hurting Zach, but Harrison actually did it. Harrison remarks, "Fuck those guys. They just think they're hard 'cause they hunt and shit. Uh, they don't know anything about real violence." Ethan asks if he wants to see a bunch of his drawings and Harrison says, "Thrill me." When Ethan sends gruesome drawings of Zach and Scott, they don't seem to disturb Harrison. He scrolls to one of Ethan holding two guns, chuckles, and asks, "What are you, like, The Punisher or something?" Ethan scoffs, "They'd be fucking scared of me if I was, huh? Fucking petrified."

"H is for Hero"

Dexter is alerted of a school lockdown in which Harrison is involved and he speeds to the school. As he arrives at the scene, Ethan is being rolled out on a stretcher with a bandaged leg.

Officer Teddy Reed rushes Dexter to Harrison, who is being treated for a stab wound. Harrison assures Dexter that it's not that bad and Alan, a paramedic, confirms that it isn't very deep.

Harrison explains that Ethan was planning a school shooting and asked Harrison to do it with him. Harrison tried to get him some help but Ethan stabbed him. Harrison tackled him to get the knife out of his hands and cut his leg, causing Ethan to pass out from loss of blood. Harrison tears up and asks if Ethan is going to die, claiming he never meant to hurt him like that.

Sergeant Logan finds Ethan’s violent drawings and what appears to be a "kill list." Angela asks Harrison if anyone else could have been in on it and Harrison says he’s Ethan's only friend.

Angela sends Logan to Ethan's house to check on his parents and look for weapons or explosives.

The next day, Harrison goes to Memorial Hospital to see how Ethan is doing, but he's sedated. His parents tell him that Ethan lost so much blood he could have died if paramedics hadn't got there so quickly. Ethan’s father thanks Harrison for what he did, but they never want to see him again. Harrison's expression turns dark

The students on Ethan's kill list gather in the school auditorium so that Sergeant Logan can talk to them about the incident. Harrison also speaks to the group. He tells them that he doesn’t blame Ethan for what happened because everyone has two sides – a little bit hero and a little bit monster. He receives a round of applause.

According to Ethan's notebook, he's a fan of Marvel Comics' The Punisher, an anti-hero well known for his quest to kill as many criminals on Earth as possible, and has fantasized about violently killing Zach and his friends while dressed as him.
