Esteban and Teo Famosa are characters in Season Two of the Showtime series DEXTER.
They were brothers and drug smugglers who had dealings with Santos Jimenez. They are also the first victims of Dexter that he kills without knowing if they are killers.
Summary[]
An airboat is seen approaching the area where the Cabin in the Everglades is located. Aboard are the Famosa brothers who are on their way to pick up a large amount of cocaine from the cabin. James Doakes, having just escaped from Dexter Morgan’s makeshift prison, hears the boat and frantically waves from shore, trying to catch their attention. The brothers stop the boat but, as soon as Doakes identifies himself as a police officer, they knock him unconscious.
A short time later, Dexter returns to the cabin with food for Doakes. He finds the brothers taking the cocaine that Jimenez had stored inside, using Doakes to carry it to the airboat. Dexter hides himself and signals his presence to Doakes. Despite their antagonistic relationship, the two work together to take down the brothers. Doakes argues with Teo long enough for Dexter to sneak inside the cabin and kill Esteban. It is not shown how Dexter kills Esteban, but a thumping noise is heard inside before Dexter emerges with Esteban's gun. Doakes then tosses cocaine into Teo's face, distracting him long enough for Dexter to get a clear shot and shoot him in the heart.
Doakes momentarily thinks he is free, until Dexter points the gun at him. Together they apparently dump the bodies in the water, since Dexter remarks that they made some alligators really happy. Doakes is again locked in the (repaired) cage inside the cabin.
Attempted Victim[]
- Sergeant James Doakes (prevented by Dexter)
Trivia[]
- The gun is a Heckler & Koch USP Pistol, 9 mm
- Killing the Famosa brothers fit one rule of the Code - "Killing must serve a purpose."
- Dexter's murder of Teo is the only time he is known to have killed anyone with a firearm.
- The Famosa's are the first time that Dexter killed a victim while not knowing if they were murderers. Though they were drug smuggler's, there was no indication they were killers, though it was heavily implied they would have killed Doakes due to him being a police officer.
- Dexter seems to either forget the Famosa's or he didn't consider them innocent, as after he kills Oscar Prado, he internally states to himself he's never killed someone without vetting them or someone who could have been innocent.
