Dexter Morgan is the main character in the Showtime series Dexter: Resurrection. He is also the title character in the Showtime original series DEXTER, Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Original Sin and in the Dexter Novels.
Following a near death experience in Iron Lake, Dexter relocates to New York City where his son Harrison Morgan has moved on to now working at the Empire Hotel.

- Currently it is unknown how Dexter is freely moving around New York City following the events of New Blood.
- In New Blood, Dexter was under suspicion of being the Bay Harbor Butcher by then girlfriend Angela Bishop. While her only hard evidence was the "wheelmark" injection sites on his victims in Miami and Iron Lake, Angel Batista had a file compiled by Maria LaGuerta with her investigation into Dexter during the events of Season Seven.
- He killed Sergeant Logan in the police department, regardless if there was no hard evidence on him being the Bay Harbor Butcher he still murdered a man and the evidence should be there - unless Dexter is able to frame Kurt Caldwell for it.
- Dexter starts seeing a hallucination of Harry Morgan once again, after his absence since the original series.
- New York City marks the largest city Dexter has ever visited at 302.6 square miles compared to Miami's 56 square miles and has the highest population count. It also dwarfs the size of Paris, which he visited in Season Two.
- Theoretically if he were to resume his activity as a serial killer (which he likely will), he would have a large hunting ground filled with potential targets to work with as well as easy water access to dispose of the corpses. However unless his name is completely cleared it's unlikely he would have access to the NYPD's database to help narrow his search - requiring potentially alternative strategy.
