Board Commissioner:

Board Commissioner: Appointed Official

Board Commissioner is a character in Season Seven of the Showtime series DEXTER.

He grants parole to Hector Estrada.

Summary[]

It’s early morning and Dexter is sitting outside Hannah McKay's house, drinking coffee when his cell phone rings.

Dexter: “Hello?”
Woman: “Am I speaking with Dexter Morgan?”
Dexter: “Yeah, that's right.”
Woman: “This is Dade County Department of Corrections. Hector Estrada…”
Dexter: “Wait. What?”
Woman: “...is having a parole hearing.”
Dexter: “When?”
Woman: “This morning at 10:00 A.M. I know this is sudden.”
Dexter: “Okay, thank you for letting me know.”
Woman: “You're welcome, sir.” [They hang up.]
Dexter: [to Hannah] “That was the Department of Corrections. Hector Estrada is up for parole. He thinks there's a good chance he'll get it.”
Hannah: “Estrada?”
Dexter: “Remember, I told you about my mother and how she died?”
Hannah: “Oh, God. Was he -- was he one of the men that killed her?”
Dexter: [nods] “He was the leader. He gave the order.”
Hannah: “What about the others?”
Dexter: “Dead. Estrada is the last survivor.”
Hannah: “I'm sure you'll have something to say about that. Look at it this way. Maybe it's the universe giving you a Christmas present.”
Dexter: [smiling] “No one but you would see it that way.”

Maybe killing Estrada will close this chapter of my life, Dexter thought, and open me up to a future with Hannah.

At the hearing, Dexter sits in the back of the room. Estrada is brought in, apparently walking with difficulty.

Board Commissioner: [to attendees] “The panel has reviewed all the pertinent data in this matter. We find that the prisoner meets the requirements for parole under the Compassionate Release Statute 463.”
Board Commissioner: [to Estrada] “Have you read the statute? Do you understand your obligations?”
Hector Estrada: [hands shaking] “I understand what's expected of me. I won't screw up.”
Board Commissioner: “At this time we invite any victims present to enter a statement either for or against the board's decision.”

I have no objection, Dexter thought, remaining silent.
