I ran through all the Dexter "new blood" seasons and now I'm binge watching the old seasons... I've noticed I can't stand Debra and Rita they're really annoying. I'm glad they weren't in the new season.. I realize why I stopped watching back then but I'm gonna bare with it because I wanna see how they fall out of the story.
Dexter claims to have had a 10 year hiatus in his killings. This is at least partially in reference to the nearly 10 year age gap between "Remember the Monsters" in 2013 and "Cold Snap" in 2021. The real world difference was 8 years. Is he rounding up when he claims a 10 year hiatus?
From the least dangerous to the most dangerous.
12. Jacob Elway (season 8) - he did not pose a serious danger, but had a bunch of informants. He posed no danger to Dexter, so the last place.
11. Stan Liddy (season 5), Joey Quinn (season 4-5) and Maria LaGuerta (season 7) - they threatened to expose and imprison Dexter, not kill, so they were only morally dangerous.
10. George King (season 3) - his actions defy logic and he was easily defeated by Dexter (because he does not know how to bind people and choose tables)
9. Frank Landy (season 2) - he is very smart and could have revealed Dexter if not for the actions of Doakes.
8. James Doakes (season 1-2) - he could have killed Dexter and he revealed his secret (but only for himself) with painstaking work.
7. Jordan Chase (season 5), Miguel Prado (season 3) and Lila West (season 2) - they are all manipulators and are ready to do anything to avoid being found out or to take revenge on the victim's relatives, although they were quickly eliminated (because they are stupid)
6. Brian Moser (season 1) - he was cool, but he was less dangerous to Dexter than the people below. And by the way, in the role of the killer, his minus is the unsuccessful murder of Batista.
5. Oliver Saxon (season 8) - a typical psychopath, but a hacker, so he was one step ahead. He was easily scared of death by a pen and could have easily killed Dexter in the Vogel house, but he got cold feet.
4. Arthur Mitchell (season 4) - the only person who came to the police to Dexter himself. Hello, Dexter Morgan - the most epic scene. Although he could have easily died if Dexter had acted earlier, so Arthur only started being dangerous at the end.
3. Kurt Caldwell (new blood) - well, to be honest, he would have been easily killed in the original series, but his difference from all the others is the murders with a sniper rifle. The moment where he waylaid Dexter from the house that was set on fire was cool.
2. Travis Marshall (season 6) - Dexter, if he were crazy. Because of his split personality, he easily deceived Dexter, and then could have killed him or Harrison.
1. Isaak Sirko (season 7) - he uses firearms, so he is the greatest danger among all Dexter's enemies. He could have killed him in the middle of the day if Dexter hadn't dropped the keys (or whatever it was) on the floor. Also their interaction was very cool. The fact that he hired him to kill two of the most dangerous (not dangerous, they are some kind of noobs) killers was cool!

The Hollywood Reporter just confirmed that a Dexter prequel was ordered, focusing on the early days of Dexter Morgan. There are talks of other prequels, such as one for the Trinity Killer as well.
I think there is missing trivia about the chosen names. Maybe these are easter eggs about some of the crew. There is an Anton Briggs in S03-S04, and an Andrew Briggs in S08. Lundy mistakely, or mockingly calls Anton Ashton :) (which could point someone real?). The other obvious anagram-like names I found is Omar Rivera in S06 and Norma Rivera in S08.
The crew is so professional to make mistakes like these, and there are so many easter eggs about movies and even games in the series, I can't believe it is a coincidence. And I'm sure there are more. After all I "only" seen all of it 3 times?
What you guys think?

Ok so, I've only watched the first episode of Dexter, so please no spoilers.
I'd love to read the books, and I know which order they're to be read in and all, I'm just curious if anyone knows if I have to read all the books or if I can just read the first few.
All the books are quite expensive, that's why I'm asking.

So I just finished watching Dexter: New Blood. While I liked it overall, I was a little disappointed. First I thought we would see a much longer time with Dexter mentoring Harrison about his Dark Passenger, how Dexter actually does all the things he does. I didn't expect most of it to be relegated to the last two episodes.
And one thing I thought was a real stretch, happens in Ep 7. OK, I can accept Kurt gets home and realizes he has ashes on his coat, not melted snow. But to then link where those ashes actually came from (that incinerator or whatever) and that his son Matt was probably burned in there and to look thru and find those surgical screws. Just seems like a leap too far.
Oh, and I'd have rather Dexter lived. And we saw him & Harrison ride off into the sunset. So we could see them work together in the near future.
