Angel Batista is a Main Character in the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin.
He is a Detective within the Miami Metro Homicide department serving alongside Bobby Watt, Harry Morgan and the new Detective Maria LaGuerta. After Dexter Morgan joins the Miami Metro Forensics department Harry asks him if he can keep an eye on his son, to ease him into the atmosphere surrounding the department and over time the two of them become friends.

Angel is first seen present at third scene of the Home Invasion Murders. He provides Captain Aaron Spencer a line of information in relation to the scene, informing him that the shooter killed both the parents then shot the girl in the back as she ran for the stairs. He's later seen during the briefing about these murders, watching as Tanya Martin provides a crucial piece of evidence that leads to the arrest of Levi Reed but does not join the SWAT raid with Harry Morgan or Bobby Watt that leads to his capture.
After Harry suffers a heart attack and recovers in the hospital, he later appears on Dexter's porch with Officer Clark Sanders sitting in a patrol car outside of Harry Morgan's House. He looks over as Dexter Morgan rolls into the driveway in his truck, looking at him with a peculiar stare as they first meet. He asks who he is, Dexter responds that he lives there...then Bobby and Captain Spencer arrive cutting the awkward tension with an energetic greeting. Bobby lets him know who it is and after they exchange pleasantries Dexter walks passed Batista unlocking it. As Spencer walks by, he glances at Batista who then walks in ahead of him.
Following Harry's recovery Batista is the first to greet him back into Homicide, approaching him with arms wide for a big hug. He's glad to see that his friend is doing alright and Bobby joins in, followed by Clark and Spencer. The warm energy presents a welcome atmosphere for Dexter's first day.
As everyone is catching up with Harry, cracking jokes as they talk Batista brings up some news involving Judge Powell's kid going missing. Bobby believes it may be a kidnapping and Spencer chimes in that it could be the cartels.

Angel is a young latino man with black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He sports a signature white fedora with a black band and a variety of 1970's Vice Era shorts - bright and warm colors generally with occasional signature designs and primarily khakis with leather shoes. At times he will sport a necklace or other accessories and wears dark, rounded shades in the sunlight.
