Andrew Briggs’ Apartment is a location in Season Eight of the Showtime series DEXTER.
It’s the Fort Lauderdale home of an armed robber.
History[]
Andrew Briggs, after stealing jewelry worth $500,000, hides out in the Pink Motel (Fort Lauderdale) where he’s killed by Dexter. Debra had been sleeping with Briggs while she was working undercover.
Summary[]
Debra reports back to her boss, Jacob Elway, and falsely denies knowing who murdered Briggs. Then she presents a set of keys that she found on his body. One of them is for a storage unit where Briggs likely stashed the jewelry, but she doesn’t know the name of the facility.
Despite the yellow crime scene tape over the door, Debra and Elway break into Briggs’ apartment, hoping to learn the location of the storage unit.
Debra: “You nervous?”
Elway: “About breaking and entering? Absolutely. Prison would put a real crimp in my business model.”
Debra: [opening door with key] “See, we're not breaking. We're just entering.”
Debra picks up Briggs' unopened mail and looks around as Elway enters the kitchen. He notices a photo of Briggs on the refrigerator and takes it to Debra.
Elway: “You really had sex with this guy?”
Debra: “Shit.”
Elway: “What? What is it?”
Debra: “If -- if I hadn't stayed to try to get the jewelry, if I just brought him in, he'd still be alive.”
Elway: “Don't beat yourself up about it. After all, it's a criminal we're talking about, right?”
Debra: “He was actually all right to hang out with. He made me forget about my shitty life for five minutes.”
Elway: “And what exactly is so shitty about your life?”
Debra: “Other than working for you?”
Elway: “Excuse me. You left Miami Metro to come and work for me. Wise career choice, I might add. If you actually accepted more cases, you may get paid what you're worth.”
Debra: “I left Miami Metro because I was burned out.”
Elway: “Oh, right. Look, I know that's a party line. Everybody knows Maria LaGuerta was a pain in the ass. I completely understand if you wanted to dip your toes in the private --”
Debra: “What the fuck are you even talking about? LaGuerta was a good cop. She was a good fucking person.”
Elway: “Right, well, note to self: Never talk about anyone Debra Morgan knows. Understood. Got it.”
Debra: “Why don't you just be really grateful that I work for you? Because I'm about to make you a fuck-ton of money. It's an unopened bill from a storage facility.”
Elway: “Why didn't FLPD find this?”
Debra: “Because it just arrived today. Found a match for our key.”
Elway: “Okay. Buster's Self Storage. All right.”
Debra: “Let's go."
Elway: “I can't. I've got a new client meeting at the office.”
Debra: [grabbing the bill] “All right. Then I'll go alone.”
Elway: [hurrying after her] “Okay. Can you hang on? Just -- hey. Hey." [Deb stops by her car]
"Hey. Just do me a favor, all right? Just be careful.”
Debra: “If I fuck up, you can always ply me with that electro-shite solution.”
Debra heads alone to the storage unit, unaware that she’s being followed by El Sapo, a hit-man.
Trivia[]
- There are no scenes of Briggs living in his apartment, only in the hotel.
- The Fort Lauderdale Police Department (FLPD) investigates this case, not Miami Metro.
